About me
I am a software engineer and a specialist in computational linguistics and multilingual NLP techniques.
I have experience in applied research on language technologies, data science, text processing, information extraction and engineering projects in international industry and R&D environments.
I am 23 years old, and I was born and raised in Asturias (north of Spain), where I graduated from my BSc in Software Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Oviedo.
During my studies, I received a scholarship to finish my courses at Virginia Tech in the USA, where I delved into ML/AI and I started to cultivate an ongoing passion for NLP and everything linguistics!
To combine my knowledge in software design skills and the LLM boom, my bachelor's thesis was an implementation of an automatic localization service for software applications.
As a student of the Erasmus Mundus MSc in Language and Communication Technologies, I have been able to study in Charles University (Prague, Czechia) and the University of the Basque Country (Donostia, Spain).
This double masters program has provided me with a solid foundation in deep learning, NLP technologies, linguistics and humanities insights, as well as helped me meet amazing, like-minded individuals in the field who keep motivating me to improve myself, my curiosity and my skills stack.
Finding myself at the end of my academic journey, I am combining internship work as a NLP researcher at Vicomtech, with the development of my master's thesis on automatic detection of lexical borrowings for low-resource languages.
I am a believer in tech for social good and ethical AI!
Beyond the code
When I am not fine-tuning language models, debugging pipelines, reading papers or cleaning code, I love exploring the world.
I am a nature and sports enthusiast, an avid music listener (cannot even code without it) and concerts goer, a compulsive movie watcher (and Letterboxd user) and all in all a person who values their social life and travelling fairly too much.
